My Wordpress install used a version two versions old because I was told not to use the latest by programmer A. Later, in a Slack discussion with programmer B, I told him that programmer C (CTO) said it should be a few versions old. The CTO acted very surprised that he'd ever suggested that.
When I went back to the email, I realized that I had misattributed the quote to the CTO. It was programmer A who'd said it should be two version old -- not the CTO.
Always check who sent an email with instructions you are quoting back so. Don't misattribute.
